MOVEMENT OF WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES IN TANZANIA (MOWADITA)

Current Interventions

Currently, MOWADITA is stabilizing its operations by enrolling new members, soliciting relevant partnerships and networks while maintaining its partnership and collaboration with Action on Disability and Development (ADD) International, Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) and UN Women among other stakeholders.
In collaboration with UN Women and ADD International, under the support of the Finnish Embassy in Tanzania, MOWADITA has been implementing projects aimed at enhancing the leadership and economic rights of women with disabilities, targeting six regions namely: Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Lindi, Mtwara, and Singida.
A flagship project titled ‘’the Women with Disabilities Leadership and Economic Rights (WDLER)’’ seeks to build capacities among women with disabilities, enabling them to engage effectively in leadership roles and improve their economic standing. This project also provides grants to support sustainable initiatives proposed by these women.
Through these efforts, MOWADITA plays a crucial role in amplifying the voices of women and girls with disabilities, advocating for their rights, and promoting their active participation in all facets of society.
